Leadership in Guiding
Today’s woman has flexible skills, expertise and loads of resourcefulness - but not much time! However, whatever time you can give to Girl Guides will bring rewards, many times over. Join Girl Guides and share your enthusiasm and experiences. You can be a Leader even if you were never a Guide. There is a lot of support for Leaders both from your Unit and from the Guide organization.
Leadership in Practice
Girl Guides Australia believes in 'steering from behind'. Girl Guide activities are girl-centred. Activities are design to instil confidence through achievement, and to build skill and initiative through hands-on experiences, not by adults demonstration or instruction.
Leaders have plenty of ‘on the ground’ support and assistance from the local leadership team. Most of our leaders work full time and enjoy Guiding as a fulfilling, fun, social activity.
Leadership Roles
Girl Guides offers a range of leadership positions including:
-
Leaders working with Youth - a Girl Guide Unit with girls in a nominated age range

-
Leaders working with Adults - co-ordinating and supporting Leaders
- Resource Leader - women with specialised skills such as training
